The Solar Wind Claims
Northern Thomas Range, Utah
The Solar Wind Mine is a brand new mine in the Thomas Range of Utah. The site is actually in the exploration phase and already is producing the world's finest bixbyite specimens in addition to combinations of pink topaz and bixbyite. Many of the specimens have twinned habits making for extremely beautiful specimens.
We are just working the weathered zone, i.e. surface layers which see the most weathering and erosion and we are still producing beautiful specimens. Below are some of the specimens that have been recovered to date. The minerals previewed at the St. Marie Show in France on June 26th, 1998. These are world class bixbyite specimens for size (so far up to one inch) and beauty (habit). The mining claims are PRIVATE and all trespassers will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Some samples are shown below.
