Larry Richey
National Rockhound and Lapidary Hall of Fame
2000 Inductee for the Jewelry Division
In April 2000 we received confirmation from June Culp Zeitner that Larry Richey has been officially inducted as the 1999 Jewelry Division winner for induction to the National Rockhound and Lapidary Hall of Fame located in Murdo, South Dakota. We took the opportunity to take pictures of selected items of his work that have made him famous among club members as well as the public at large where year after year he has won first prize awards at the Orange County,California fair competition as well as many other distinguished awards.
To let more rockhounds and jewelry fanatics view his work I have taken pictures of some of the prominent pieces in his Year 2000 Case at the Searchers Show which just took place May 6th and 7th. We will be providing pictures of many of his works to the Pioneer Museum in Murdo, South Dakota where June Culp Zeitner has indicated that the pictures of him, his work and comments and biographical information will be held for posterity.
So here we go on a fantastic journey into his work...... enjoy the ride. We hope this will bring inspiration to other rockhounds, jewelers and faceters around the world... Larry prides himself in the diversity of his work and techniques:
pierced silver, inlay, channel set, silversmithing, intarsia, carving, coin cutting, handwrought silver, casting, lostwax casting, silversculpture, shadowbox silversmithing, knapping, sculpturing.
