Fluorescent Manganocalcite

Collected in the 1950's at the World Famous Kelly Mine, Magdalena, New Mexico (5th Level of the Pascal Shaft)
Collected by the late Colorado field collector and geologist Chris Christensen

Few specimens are left for sale

Single and Double Terminated Euhedral, Scalenohedral
Calcite Crystals Up to 0.5 inch on both sides of matrix.

Matrix is nonfluorescent. Very attractive contrast.
Calcite fluoresces fiery orange-red under SHORT WAVE only.
I confirmed this with George Polman of Arizona. To me
they still look orange but he indicates that they would
be considered "reddish-orange" to diehard fluorescent collectors.

This material is equivalent to the best Sterling Hill, New Jersey material
.

Here's my crude attempt at preUV and postUV samples of two typical specimens.
The electronics of a videocamera will not accurately reflect the color of UV light.
